YouTube or TikTok?
A tough question for content creators TikTok may tip soon.
TikTok officials said they are working on a new feature that will allow some users to add e-commerce links to their content, which also means that creators may soon be able to earn some extra cash. Chinese Startup Uplab founder Fabian Byrne tweeted on Thursday how this feature works. The video shows a young puppy running freely dressed in a panda costume, and users can see the Pandaloon fashion link and by clicking on it they are directed to the Amazon video publisher page where they can purchase their puppy costume and the feature is currently being tested in the United States.
These business links can also be found in several other places where content creators can add a URL to their profile, specifically within their CV or description section. Like Instagram, users can easily click to access the store, social media accounts, or any other site. The marketing of products within social media apps is a pioneering feature and has not yet gained popularity.
On the other hand, Snapchat introduced the Collections feature in 2018, which is a type of advertising that allows brands to link to their products, eliminating the need for users to pull up to access links, but for the application TikTok it is unclear whether the feature will be offered to all users, and if TikTok's new features may make video sharing more profitable for its users.TikTok has collected more than a billion users worldwide but content creators do not find it as profitable as sites like YouTube where they can earn revenue from those ads.
