Meet the new characters in Frozen 2
Frozen 2 will be released on November 22. The film will bring together old characters such as Alyssa and her sister Anna, the two sisters who have become the most popular characters for adults and children and a host of new characters.
Elsa's ice queen's exploration of her abilities is central to the story of the new film, and as we have seen in the passages shown, it is all due to a set of primary spirits representing fire, air, water and earth.
One of the biggest questions after Frozen was where Elsa got her abilities, film producer Peter Del Vishu revealed that the very question was what prompted the team to craft the second part. “A few years ago, when I was traveling around the world for performances by artists and students, I kept hearing the same question over and over again,” he recalls. “Where did Elsa get her ice power? Well, it turns out that this was the question that [filmmakers] Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck also began to wrestle with. We realized there were more stories to tell. ”
With Arendel once again endangered, Elsa, Anna, Christoph, Severin and Olaf go into the unknown and find a charming forest where they meet face to face with the representations of each element. The first creatures I showed were Earth giants. Huge hills of soil, it was a challenge for the animation team to craft and most importantly to make it believable. Bill Schwab, artistic designer for Frozen 2, provided some insights into how the lives of the Earth's giants and the unexpected frozen characters that share DNA were revived.

Bruni
The second object was a very gentle newt called Bruni. Ostensibly the latest in the Disney lineup of cute creatures that will make them grow up well, we have the theory that the inclusion of Bruni means that he may play a more important role, perhaps the role of Fire Spirit, which has yet to be announced.
“Our goal with this character is to make Bruni as wonderful as possible… so he is very nice,” Schwab shared. Animation supervisor Trent Currie continued, “When Bruni entered into the animation, again, we were only working with Bill to try to make this character as wonderful as possible. So we started working on some simple tests with him. Such early tests are used only to inform the drawing team, working with Bill only to make this character as attractive and as nice as possible, and at the same time, other painters in the crew work on things like walking and other details. ”
Gale
One of the most interesting creations was Jill, the spirit of the wind. Spotted for the first time in the Frozen 2 trail and let it blow around the foliage, a unique character where you can not actually see it, it is represented only by anything it gives at the time. Schwab spoke of the process behind the supernatural being.
He said, “My first question was how to raise the wind?” “How to draw something that doesn't exist? And so the solution was to think of debris, sticks, leaves and things that might be in the charming forest that we could already use to identify a generation. There was a principled idea where maybe in fact, we would really be a special character “I really explored the idea of a generation by interacting with our characters, perhaps imitating them. Annette Marnat was another artist who worked on this character and was really exploring this idea of lighting. We use lighting to create the magic of generation and the beauty of generation ”
The Nokk
The last creature added by the team is Nokk. Based on a true folklore tradition in the north, Nokk is an aquatic spirit, which always takes the form of a horse. When you watch the movie you are likely to recognize it through the stunning sequence that opened the first trailer for Frozen 2 where Elissa faced the sea and his horse protector. Schwab talked about personality and some ideas that shaped the final design of the ethereal monster.
“By working with Annette Marnat, she created these beautiful images of Knock, not just over water but in water,” Schwab said. “The other thing I discovered is how much water we need to describe a horse or how small it is and really play with some sort of stripping of this design.”
