Ford v Ferrari tops box office race and displaces Charlie's Angels!

Ford v Ferrari surpassed his box office rivals as Disney's historical sports drama and 20 Century Fox hit $ 31 million in North America.

The film, directed by James Mangold and starring Christian Bell and Matt Damon, for the first time exceeds expectations, thanks to the promotion of film-goers. However, promising ticket sales were not enough to offset the disappointing results of prominent new colleagues, Charles Angels, and The Good Lear, pushing the local box office to fall more than 6% from last year, according to ComScore.

Sony's action-comedy “Charlie’s Angels” came out of the portal with $ 8.6 million from 3,445 auditoriums, finishing third among Lionsgate's drama Phil Midway $ 8.75 million and Paramount Studios 'Playing with Fire' ($ 8.5 million). Meanwhile, Warner Bros.'s “The Good Liar” narrowly scored the top 10 points, finishing eighth with $ 5.6 million from 2,439 theaters.

Ford v Ferrari received a rare A + rating from CinemaScore, the highest score among new shows nationwide. This kind of praise from ticket buyers suggests that the race drama must have a long life in more galleries and movies.

"We knew the film was a real pleasure for the public," said Catlin Taff, Disney's global distribution chief. “With the great talent of director James Mangold, Christian Bell, and Matt Damon, it looked like a movie worth watching. We are happy to see him succeed. ”

High revenues around the world, as well as the possibility of the film running for many awards, could also help drive the film towards profitability. Ford v Ferrari's overseas screening began this weekend with $ 21 million, pushing its global stake to $ 52.4 million. If he can maintain the same momentum, the Ford v Ferrari will be a big win for Fox under their new Disney owners, as well as the first commercial success since the merger of the studios earlier this year.
