Magic Hakimi and Hazard lead Dortmund to overthrow Wolfsburg


Borussia Dortmund thrashed Wolfsburg 3-0 at Signal Iduna Park in the 10th round of the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Dortmund's goals came from Thorgan Hazard in the 52nd minute, Rafael Guerrero in the 58th minute, and Mario Gotze in the 88th minute from a penalty.

The result raised Dortmund to 19 points in second place in the Bundesliga table, while Wolfsburg dropped to seventh with 17 points.

Lucien Favre, coach of Drutmund, started the meeting with his usual plan (4-2-3-1), with the formation of: Hitz - Akanji - Homels - Hakimi - Pechek - Guerrero - David - Royce - Vigil - Hazard - Brandt.

Wolfsburg coach Oliver Glasner started the meeting with a 4-3-3 plan and a composition consisting of Pervan, William, Bruma, Figurest, Roussillon, Nemesha, Guilavogi, Brooks, Arnold, Victor and Tesrand.

First Half

Fagr surprised his opponent by putting Ashraf Hakimi in a new position, the right wing instead of Jadon Sancho, and the Moroccan international was participating in previous games as a left wing.

The first 10 minutes of the match saw a very quiet start from both teams, with the ball in the company of Dortmund but without any serious danger on the goal, and came the most important balls came through Pechic, who broke through from the right side in the ninth minute and crossed the defense of Wolfsburg into a corner.

Hakimi tried to disengage early between the two teams in the 14th minute after he took advantage of the rebound of the ball from a corner of Dortmund outside the penalty area, to find the Moroccan, who hit the top of the goal.

Dortmund returned to exploit the shot with a promising 15th-minute attack by Brandt and Royce before the ball reached Vigel on the edge of the penalty area to shoot but next to Wolfsburg goal.

The most dangerous chances came in the 22nd minute after Nemesha took advantage of the confusion of Dortmund's defense and broke through from the right side to set up a goal, putting the ball over goalkeeper Hitz but hit the crossbar.

Royce suffered a foot injury, which necessitated replacing him by Favre and pushing Mario Gotze instead.

Hakimi was the key to Dortmund, playing two crosses in the 39th and 43rd minutes, saving Wolfsburg's first defense hard, while the second met Vigel with his head but the ball went easy in the hands of the keeper.

Second Half

In the 52nd minute Borussia Dortmund took the lead, after Hitz launched a counter-attack to his team pass the ball to Hakimi, who broke through from the right side and a ground pass to Thorgan Hazard coming from the left side into the penalty area to shoot straight into the net.


Hakimi tried to double the score in the 56th minute after breaking through the Wolfsburg defense from the left and then shooting into the body of goalkeeper Pervan.

Guerrero scored the second goal for Dortmund in the 58th minute after receiving a smart pass from Hazard on the edge of the penalty area from the left side, and then hit a strong ground in the opposite corner of the Wolfsburg goal.

The Moroccan star continued to shine in his new position, where he broke through the Wolfsburg defense again in the 67th minute and was alone in the goal but passed to Gotze, the latter shot in the body of the goalkeeper to bounce the ball to David, who fired again but Parvan saved his own goal.

Hazard almost added to his team's third goal in the 80th minute in an individual effort, where he crossed the ball accidentally from the right side into the boundaries of the penalty area and shot near the left post.

Hazard scored again in the 87th minute and fired an easy save.

Dortmund were awarded a 88th-minute penalty after a handball from Bruma, where Goetz put it in the net.
