Granada beat Betis and top LaLiga in the absence of giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Granada took full advantage of the postponement of "Clasico" Spanish football between Barcelona and Real Madrid, to take the top of the standings by winning Sunday in the tenth stage of the league at home to Real Betis 1-0.
With the postponement of the match between former leaders Barcelona and arch-rivals Real Madrid until 18 December, Granada remain in the lead until at least the next stage, after he managed to raise his score to 20 points, just one point from both Barcelona II and the champion of the last two seasons. And Real Sociedad third win over Celta Vigo today with the same result, and Atletico Madrid winner Saturday on Athletic Bilbao 2-0.

The Andalucians have already taken first place in earlier stages of the season, but were soon to lose once they completed the stage.

Granada scored the three points thanks to Alvaro Vadio's goal in the 61st minute, when he received inside the box a fine ball from Carlos Fernandez, and shot brilliantly to the right of goalkeeper Joel Robles.

The home side almost quickly consolidated the score after two minutes through Nigerian player Ramon Aziz with a powerful shot from the edge of the area bounced from the right post of the Betis goal, and returned to his teammate Fernandez, who surprised them, and tried to direct it to the empty net but over the bar.

Betis had attempts to compensate, especially in the last ten minutes, most notably through two direct free kicks, overthrew Christian Tello first over goal (82), while the second touched the left foot of the crossbar Sergio Canales and continued its way off the field (87).

It was Granada's sixth win of the season and third in their last four games (punctuated by a 2-4 loss to Real Madrid in the eighth stage), while Betis received their fifth loss and a freeze on nine points in 18th place.

Espanyol won their second win of the season and their first after four defeats and a draw at the expense of Levante with a single goal scored by Bernardo Espinosa in the 38th minute.

Espanyol raised their tally to eight points in nineteenth place from last to 11 points for the 13th Levante, who suffered their fifth loss this season and second in a row.
