Chelsea beat Ajax in Amsterdam by stabbing Patchway

Chelsea snatched a precious 1-0 win at Ajax Amsterdam on Wednesday at the Johan Cruyff Arena in the third round of the Champions League group stage.

Striker Michi Pachway scored the only goal in the 86th minute, lifting Chelsea to the top of Group H with six points, while Ajax have six points.

First half

Chelsea quickly entered the game, and in the fourth minute Abraham rose to a cross from a corner, but his header went wide.

Ajax's first attempt came in the 8th minute with a powerful shot by Feltman from outside the box, which passed alongside the left post.

Mont almost opened the scoring for Chelsea in the 14th minute, after an incursion into the penalty area and then hit a strong ground, taken by goalkeeper Onana to corner.

In the 73rd minute, Pachway followed a shot by Pulisic, finding himself completely alone with Ajax, but he struck the ball strangely over the bar.

As Chelsea woke up, Ajax made the first switch in the 74th minute with Benzol Neris at the expense of Promise.

Pulisic exchanged the ball with Pachway in the 80th minute, and the American fired a powerful ball from the edge of the penalty area.

Pachway scored the first goal for Chelsea in the 86th minute, after a series of dribbles by Polisic on the left side of the penalty area, ending it with a cross from the Belgian striker who fired a shot that hit the crossbar and netted Onana.

Ajax then made two substitutions in the 89th minute for Sim de Jong at Alvarez, Huntelaar at Feltman, and Chelsea made the final move to Rysi James at Hudson Odoy.

Pachway tried to score the second goal in the first minute of stoppage time with a powerful shot from the edge of the penalty area, taken by Onana to a corner, ending the game Chelsea 1-0 victory.
